A major exhibition at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery

Radical Bloomsbury

16 April – 9 October 2011

Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell were two central figures in the Bloomsbury Group. Through the paintings of these artists, Radical Bloomsbury demonstrates their relationship with European avant-garde art, as well as the influence of oriental and exotic culture. This exhibition also provides the cultural and social context in which these Bloomsbury painters worked. Loans from national museums, such as Tate, National Portrait Gallery and the V&A , regional galleries and private collectors include paintings rarely seen in public.
